Moon & Stars

The challenge on SCS today was to use Today's color challenge was to use Cool Caribbean, Pretty in Pink, and Marigold Morning together. I didn't think I could pull it off. I barely used the Marigold on this card, just to mat the image and color the moon in.

The challenge was done with these colors since the cool Caribbean and marigold will be retiring at the end of the month. I think it was the first time I have even used my marigold paper, so I won't miss that color too much. On the other hand I love the Caribbean color. I have two packages of it, and a reinker waiting for me at my demo's house. I just have to wait for payday to get it. After this card I now need to order some more pretty in pink, as that was the last sheet. Seems like I use that color more than any other.

I have had this set for over a year, and this is the first time I have pulled it out. Not normally my kind of set, seems like I go for the flowers more. I like it, but don't see myself using it very often.

Bingo Fun

What a fun idea Julee is hosting a great Blogger Bingo game. Just what I need to motivate me to get some more cards done this summer.

I had started the summer with the goal of doing at least one card per day, so that when school starts back in the fall, I would have a bunch to take in a basket to sell in the teachers lounge. I haven't done too well with that goal yet.

I did this card with the sketch posted by Julee for the bingo game. This card was done with images I got from the great WishRak group on Splitcoast, last year and have held on to. Sounds goofy, but I loved them too much to use them up.

Stamps: Pattern of friendship

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Pixie Pink, Pretty In Pink

Patterned Paper: Die Cuts with a view stack

Inks: Black

Misc: Watercolor pencils, prima flowers, cuttlebug tiny bubbles embossing folder, making memories brad

Wow, three challeges done this week!

I am loving summer vacation! So great to be able to get the challenges done the same week they are posted. I combined the tuedsay color challenge and todays sketch challenge for this card. I am really loving the Gelly Roll glaze glitter pen, it added so much to these flowers.

Faux Tile Challenge

The Technique challenge for Monday on SCS was to make cards with Faux tiles. After looking at the samples, and some of the gallery additions for this technique I figured it would be easy. I just couldn't comprehend why people where saying it was harder for them than they thought, I just thought they making it to hard. That is until I did mine. I stamped a full page with the roses in winter, (I plan to use the rest for one sheet wonder cards) and then embosses the rectangle with versamark and clear embossing powder. I had planned to use my Creative Memories square maker to punch the squares, well that didn't work too well with the two layers of embossing powder. So I had to cut my squares 1 inch with my trimmer. That was hard to not have the paper moving around for that tiny area. I laid my squares out, but had a hard time with the spacing on the brown "grout" paper. That is where the ribbon comes in, I had to cover up my mistake. Oh well I am happy with the final result, and love the tiles. But I will not question again if more than a few people say a technique was difficult LOL

New Storage !!

I am so lucky! Gary built me a new buffet for my crafts. I have gone from a folding table with a ton of stuff stacked on the top, to this great big piece of real furniture.

I thought it would be really easy to just put my stuff into it, but then I decided it would be silly not to sort it and organize it first. That turned into an all day affair. But so worth it!

Gary thinks I am nuts as I just keep looking at it and smiling. Those lucky enough to have a full stamp room might think I am nuts too, but it is just so great to have this with doors and all :)

The only thing that I did lose is the table top space to work on, but 90% of the time my table was so much of a mess I worked on the kitchen table anyway. So I will be working on the kitchen table most of the time. I did pull a chair up to the buffet (I need to think of a new name for this, it just is funny to me) but it was hard with the doors there, and a little too tall. It would be great if I stamped standing up.

Lets just see if I can keep it clean for a few days.

Fifth grade graduation

Today was Jake's graduation from the 5th grade. Seems like just yesterday he was in Kindergarten, now in a couple months he will be off with Allicia at the middle school. It is going to be so very odd to only have Andy at the elementary school with me. I am sure he is ready to move on though, and not have Mom around all day and at recess :) More so that I am at least .

Jake received the President's Award for Educational Achievement. He was n

ot sure if he would get one since he hadn't gotten the best grade in handwriting, but I guess they don't count handwriting. He was very surprised and happy. We are very proud of you Jake!!

I was not to thrilled with the color challenge that was posted on Tuesday. I didn't think that I would like the garden green with the cool Caribbean. Today before work I thought that I might mess around with it quickly before I needed to leave. After starting this card, it quickly turned into one that "had" to be done before I left. I ended up actually being 5 minutes late to work so that I could finish this card. Not normally my style, but I think I really like this card.

It was also the first time for a couple of items used to make this card. I had not even cut the So Very set. Not a very versatile set in my opinion and I am not sure how often I will use it. Saying that though, I am sure I will never get rid of it. Once i have a set, I have to hold on to it forever.

Also the first time in trying the Gelly Roll Stardust clear pen. I LOVE it! I used it to just go around the flower. What a neat effect in a very short time.

I used the Sketch challenge 126. Not too sure how much it looks like it, but that is what I started with.
